The School District of Manatee County holds an annual battle of the books competition. This academic competition brings together readers from across the county as they represent their school by answering questions about that year's selected Sunshine State Young Reader Award (SSYRA) winning books.
St. Joseph's Middle School students competed for the first time in the 2021-2022 school year, winning third place. We are excited to encourage more students to get involved in the Battle of the Books.
Each Spring, new books are selected as the SSYRA texts, and students read the award winning literature in preparation for the competition. If you have an interest in getting involved, please visit the SJCS library to learn more!
